Bob Sloezen has climbed to the
top of Mt. Everest on three occasions. His most infamous climb took place back
on May 31, 1994 when he made a solo push to the summit late in pre-monsoon season. Bob has
climbed countless peaks throughout Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina,
Mexico, Europe and the United States.
When Bob was three years old
his family immigrated to the USA from Holland. His family settled in New Jersey
and Bob tried to make a living as an auto mechanic and construction worker after
he finished with school. However, he dreamed of a life in the mountains and
eventually moved to Colorado to pursue his dreams of climbing.
Today, He is a successful
Mountain Guide and Ski Instructor. He shares his skills and passion with
students through Connecting Classrooms to the World. Connecting Classrooms to
the World is a Chicago based organization that promotes global literacy.
Students are able to follow climbs and learn about mountaineering by using a
global classroom.
Just the facts: Bob summited Everest on
5/15/1991, 5/31/1994, 5/27/1998. Bob also summited Cho Oyu on 5/12/1995.
