Toichiro Mitani summited Everest on October 13, 1989 via the standard North East Ridge route as a member of the Japanese Kathmandu Club expedition.

Toichiro, a very famous Japanese climber, has also summited Kangchenjunga (5/20/84), Dhaulagiri (10/17/82), Cho Oyu (10/3/85) and Manaslu (10/8/97).
