The Sherpas of Everest Series: Ang Tsering Sherpa

1975: Japanese Ladies Expedition led by Mrs Eiko Hisana. On May 16 Junko Tabei of Japan became the first woman to reach the summit via the South-East Ridge with Ang Tsering Sherpa.

A film was made about Ang Tsering Sherpa, JOURNEY INTO THE HIMALAYAS, The film shows Ang Tsering making a pilgrimage from his home village to the mountain. This video is part 7 of the 7 part series "JOURNEY INTO THE HIMALAYAS" In this video series a team led by Keith Adam who spent five months in the Himalayas, filming from Kashmir in the west to the remote kingdom of Bhutan In the east.

While many spell his name with a h, as Ang Tshering Sherpa, but his name is Ang Tsering Sherpa. He currently live in Namche Bazaar, Solukumbu. he was born in 1949 and received several medals from the King of Nepal.
