The Sherpas of Everest Series: Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa

Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa summited Everest six times between 91 and 95 by three different routes. First via the South Pillar on May 15, 1992, then in Autumn on September 28, 1992 via the standard south east ridge route. In 1993, two more times, April 22nd, 1993 with the Nepalese Women via the South East Ridge and Oct 9, 1993 with Jon Tinker's British expedition via the standard north east ridge route. (That made 4 summits of Everest in 2 years!)

His fifth was on May 8, 1994 with the Japanese via the South Pillar again. Then on May 11, 1995 he summited with the Japanese expedition via the standard north east ridge route. That made Everest six Summits between 91 and 95 by three different routes.

Sadly he died on September 10th, 1995 in an avalanche on Everest. He was from the Solukhumbu.
