John on Everest May 25, 2001

John Waechter reached the summit of Mt. Everest (29,035 feet) on May 25th 2001.  With the ascent of Mt. Everest, he successfully completed climbing the highest peak on each of the world’s seven continents, becoming the 58th person to conquer the Seven Summits (including Kosciuszko).  The other six mountains are Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. McKinley in Alaska, Mt. Aconcagua in South America, and Mt. Vinson in Antarctica.  John’s presentation focuses mainly on his ascent of Mt. Everest, but also includes pictures and stories of these other mountains.

With his background in business, mountaineering, and other endurance commitments, including the completion of seven marathons, John’s presentation is well suited to outdoor enthusiasts and business audiences.

John Waechter co-founded Waechter Lufkin, LLC, Member NASD, in 1997.  Waechter Lufkin raises private equity for emerging growth companies.  Waechter Lufkin works with technology start-ups in their efforts to create, grow and finance successful operating entities.  Waechter Lufkin prepares companies to attract and secure financial and strategic partners capable of adding value to their team.  Such value-added partners include venture capitalists, additional management, corporate affiliations, and accredited individual investors.

Prior to co-founding Waechter Lufkin, Mr. Waechter worked for Northland Communications Corporation from 1995 to 1997.  At Northland he held the positions of Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Western Operations.  Mr. Waechter worked for GTE Northwest from 1987 to 1993, most recently serving as Major Accounts Manager responsible for teams that sold, implemented and serviced communications systems for GTE's largest customers.  From 1985 to 1987, Mr. Waechter worked for Xerox Corporation as a Marketing Representative.  Mr. Waechter received an M.B.A. from the University of Washington, and holds a B.A. from Whitman College.
