The Sherpas of Everest Series: Ang Phurba Sherpa

Ang Phurba Sherpa Summited Everest the first time on April 30, 1985 with the Norwegian expedition via the via the standard south east ridge route. Then a second time on the China-Japan-Nepal Friendship Expedition on May 5, 1988 when he was the only Sherpa climber who ascended Everest from Nepal side and descended into Tibet. In 1993, he summited with the Spanish (Catalan) expedition on May 16, 1993 via the standard south east ridge route.

In addition to Everest he has summited, Baruntse, Putha Himchuli , Cho Oyu  in 1990, Cho Oyu & Shishapangma in 1992, and McKinley. He has been on numerous expeditions including the Winter Japanese Everest expedition in 1980/1981 when he reached 8000 meters at the age of 17.
