The Sherpas of Everest Series: Dorjee Lhatoo

Dorjee Lhatoo was born in 1941 in Yatung in Tibet. He married Tenzing Norgay's niece, Sonam Doma. He reached the summit of Everest on May 23, 1984 lead by D K Khullar with Bachendri Pal (first woman from India to Summit) via the South East Ridge route.

He is an ethnic Sherpa, born and brought up in Tibet. His father was Chu Sharwa from Pangboche and his mother was Murmintso from Thame. However, he does not write Sherpa after his name. Hence his name is  Dorjee Lhatoo.

Dorjee currently is retired and living in West Bengal.
